For the fifth time in our country’s history, and for the second time in the past 16 years, the winner of the popular vote lost the presidential election. It is time to abolish, or at least reform, the outdated electoral college, so that it will never again undermine the will of the American people.

However, enacting a Constitutional Amendment could be very difficult because it requires the approval of 2/3rds of Congress and ¾ths of the 50 state legislatures. Thankfully, there are other ways to enact a national popular vote, since the “winner-take-all” practice of awarding electoral votes is not actually in the Constitution. It can be changed state by state. Time to start the movement by contacting your legislators and making your voice on this issue heard.
