Guys who make fun of guys who do ballet must not realise how disciplined, agile, coordinated and strong you have to be to be a ballet dancer.
Guys who make fun of ballet are stupid.
my legs hurt now
Also, ballet men have literally the most aesthetically pleasing body out of any other group of men I have ever encountered. And then can lift you over their heads!
Always wanted to try out. Martial arts game would def improve from it.
YO BUT OK i am a female ballet dancer and there are guys in my studio younger than me and by younger than me i mean like 12 or occasionally 11 because i am 13 and they can still lift me up and they dont even flinch they just pick me up like im a lil fairy its so impressive and they are 12 they are so great
Redefine masculinity
More like REFINED masculinity
thank you finally a post about male ballet dancers!! they’re so under-appreciated in the outside world, and no one understands how hard it is for them
male ballet dancers are so graceful and masculine …. normalize and increase the number of male ballet dancers…..
[NEWS OUTLET VOICE OVER]Doctor Jane Foster was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for her groundbreaking work on the
Einstein-Rosen bridge theory attributed to Thor’s intergalactic travel methods, as well as her work in finding a cure and a treatment to those affected by Loki’s failed attempt at colonizing this world through the Battle of New York, last night in Stockholm, Sweden. She received the prize off the hands of now world famous theoretical physicist Ian Donnelly, who has gained recent fame in his collaboration with the United States army during the Apparition of the 12 alien shells, and assisted Professor Louise Banks in deciphering an alien language. It would seem that we’re beginning to understand the powers around us a little bit better, aren’t we?
Clint watches the replays, hand resting lazily on the remote control. He isn’t absolutely sure as to why he feels so tired – it wasn’t so much being undercover and still being on television, it was the entire sense of achievement. When he’d learnt that Jane was up for the Nobel Physics prize, he had immediately asked Helen Cho and Erik Selvig for their opinion – sure, they had helped him with getting fine tuned to his role as Ian Donnelly, but maybe he needed their expertise a bit more when it came to the fucking Nobel prize.
Thankfully, not a lot of people cared about this year’s prizes, other than the one attributed to literature- Bob Dylan, of all people. He laughs, more of a chuckle, as he turns the television off.
It had been a night where he had felt so out of place – everything was scheduled down to the first plate to be brought out to the security everywhere. If anything, he’d hoped – half expected – the secret services responsible for the protection of the Swedish Royal Family to do a security check on all guests present. Or, maybe, as Helen had told him later on, when he’d promised to guide her through the ceremony and get contact cards for some scientists she wanted to talk science with, it was because the secret service had figured out Ian was just a cover for the Avenger Hawkeye, and had decided that he posed no threat.
(After all, opinions in most European countries was that if anything, if an Avenger like Hawkeye wanted to pay tribute to a scientist who had been able to explain part of the Scandinavian mythology in a logical and sound manner, as well as helped them find a way to understand mind control and move mental health therapy forward, it would be okay).
He smiles to himself.
Jane had thought he was there for protection – she’d asked him, a whisper in his ear as he handed her the prize, if this was like Miss Congeniality, where they put someone in with the rest of the scientists? He’d shaken his head and laughed, moving aside to let her shine.
He didn’t tell her that her experiments, studies and research on the Infinity Gems is what keeps him going – somehow, he wishes she could find the solution faster. But, he guesses, she battles her own battles with her stone, just like he does his, and if anything… She can maybe actually crack the code to healing all of those who had been taken by magic far more advanced than they had ever thought.
based on @alexinthestrangeworld‘s tags on this gifset of when Jeremy Renner awarded Natalie Portman with the Best Actress award at the 2016 Critics Choice Awards:
#okay but imagine #jane wins yet another award for her scientific achievements #maybe one for her studies on bifrost #or maybe reality gem #clint is there undercover as some physicist (ian donnelly ‘cause why not?) #and he is the one give her the award #but also give a little speech thanking her for what she shared with the world #of course jane knows clint and as he hands her a statuette she ask what is it all about #they expect a terrorist attack? an assassin maybe?he just smiles and whispers that he really wanted to be the one who thanks her tonight #he mumbles something about infinity gems and how her studies will make dealing with them a lot safer in the future #he thanks her once more than disappears backstage leaving spotlight for her #yea
The beginning of We Know The Way is actually in two different languages – the first verse is Samoan while the chorus is Tokelauan, one of the native languages of composer Opetaia Foa‘i. The English verses were built around the Samoan and Tokelauan lines, which roughly translate to:
We are voyagers called by the great god of the sea, Who puts up a challenge. We take up the good challenge, So get ready. Oh, oh! There is land up ahead. A bird in flight to take us there, Oh, oh! This beautiful land, The place I was looking for, we will make our home.
For anyone not so familiar with cat behavior, this cat is out of its mind excited to do this. It’s much more rare for cars to wag their tails but it means the same as it does when a dog does it. This cat is curious and proud and playing. It keeps looking at its owner too, like “LOOK AT ME, DAD” and it’s so rare to get videos of cats this happy. This is fucking rad
Nope.. wagging tails means anger or irritation in cat body language.
hey y’all, hope you don’t mind me stepping in!
you’re both right 🙂 a wagging tail means the cat is highly stimulated (think coiled spring, ready to go off). depending on the situation, this can be interpreted differently – just like people can smile nervously at job interviews vs. happily grin at friends.
in most cases, it’s safe to interpret overstimulation as ‘you’re doing something to amp up the cat & it wants you to stop’ (ex. unwanted petting). it should be seen as a warning; all that pent-up energy COULD be released as a swat or bite.
BUT in this case, that tail-wagging ‘frustration’ is the stimulation that comes from problem-solving (where can I jump? is it safe to go here?) and the excitement of play. it’s good to be wary of ‘cute’ animals vids, but this seems like an unproblematic video!
I’d like to add to this–just look at world-famous box-loving cat, Maru, who wags his tail every time he stuffs his body into a box or other small object. He’s clearly not about to attack the person behind the camera! It’s definitely based on stimulation, but more to the point of “ahhh FINALLY I’ve gotten into the small space, now how do I get the rest of me inside”:
@pangur-and-grim is spot on with their commentary here! A wagging tail (on a dog or a cat) is a sign of stimulation, also referred to professionally as arousal. That can be either positive or negative in experience. It’s like an accelerometer on a car – tail movement tells you the car is revving, but not how fast it is going or where.
Sometimes you can tell from tail movement and tension if the internal state of the animal is tense or excited. Low-stress engagement (calm interest, excitement, getting happy pets) tends to get a tail that wags more slowly, in softer arcs, whereas high-stress engagement (over-stimulation, prey drive) will get a stiffer tail wagging in more tight movements. These look like lower-stress tail movements to me and likely correlate with interest and engagement rather than anything unpleasant.
That’s Deep Blue, they think she’s the biggest white shark ever filmed
Of course it’s a girl. She’s beautiful and I’ll keep my hands inside the cage at all times
I…I love her.
My daughter is beautiful and strong.
her dorsal fin is longer than a full grown adult but I in all my 5’2" glory still wants to protect her
I am, I believe, the reasonable amount of scared of sharks that a smart soft mammal should be, but I definitely just said “whos a big pretty girl” at the screen.
Thank you, tumblr, for reminding me that things I’m afraid of are beautiful too.
So I got curious and look this giant up and found this picture of the diver high fiving her as she passed. According to the article, not only is Deep Blue big but in the picture she’s super pregnant too.
