In some other universe we are happy
we are not bloodstained and war torn
But in that universe we are not soulmates

In this universe, the one with heartache and duty
In this universe we are each other’s missing piece 

We switch back and forth, one of us the head, the other the heart
I need you, I believe you, I trust you
I’d give up my life for yours without a thought
But we understand that we are leaders first, lovers second

I’ve done terrible things in the name of keeping you safe
But you still see me and think I’m an angel

I’ve reigned death upon the world
I’ll never wash the blood away
But I know you’ve done the same

We are partners in death, partners in creation
We are equals you and I
No one could ever understand me better
