In early 2019 I will be donating one of my kidneys to someone in need. I don’t know who it is yet but it doesn’t matter much to me. I just want to do a concrete good in a world that feels especially frustrating right now. Even if it’s just for one person.
What I need from you is a bit of financial help to do it. All medical costs are covered by the hospital but what isn’t is the 4-6 week recovery time in which I won’t be able to work. Being a humble working artist, I could really use all your help to bridge that gap.

Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”
You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.
Yeah signal boost because not enough people know about this and seriously FUCK SUSAN G. KOMEN THEY ARE THE ACTUAL WORST

Komen For The Cure is pretty much awful.
My mother died in 1996 from breast cancer. Most cancer charities are scams, in that people throw fancy parties and get rich off them and very little money goes into research or support for patients. Here are some vetted cancer charities that get good scores on Charity Navigator and pay medical expenses or fund research:
In a footnote to a May 10, 2005, memorandum from the Office of Legal Council, the Bush attorney general’s office argued that restricting the caloric intake of terrorist suspects to 1000 calories a day was medically safe because people in the United States were dieting along those lines voluntarily.
“While detainees subject to dietary manipulation are obviously situated differently from individuals who voluntarily engage in commercial weight-loss programs, we note that widely available commercial weight-loss programs in the United States employ diets of 1000 kcal/day for sustain periods of weeks or longer without requiring medical supervision,” read the footnote. “While we do not equate commercial weight loss programs and this interrogation technique, the fact that these calorie levels are used in the weight-loss programs, in our view, is instructive in evaluating the medical safety of the interrogation technique.”
Another another friendly reminder that the Minnesota Starvation Experiment subjected adult men who were VOLUNTEERS to 1,560 calorie diets and the psychological effects were so profound that one volunteer cut three of his own fingers off and could not remember why.
These men were volunteers who knew exactly what they would be going through and when it would end, and who believed they were doing it for a good and moral reason (the research was used to help rehabilitate victims of starvation and famine at the end of WWII).
And these are the things we are expected to engage in FOREVER to stay at a “healthy” weight.
Reading about the Minnesota Starvation experiment was my wake-up call. It was what kicked me out of my eating disorder. The guy missing three fingers, whatever his name was, he was the last straw for me.
Scared me so fucking bad I stopped restricting my food that day, and never went back to it.
Just bringin’ this back around like I sometimes do.

Anorexia has ~16% mortality rate, slightly higher than acted upon suicidal ideation. It’s more lethal than actively trying to kill oneself and this is why.
guys I know I ask for help on here a lot, but this month if I don’t get some sort of assistance my roommate and I won’t be able to pay our rent or electricity and I’m kind of freaking out. (Okay I’m really freaking out.)

Now you want to do some plans for your writing ? put down chapters, parts ? guess what’s in the “outline” tab 😉
On your left, you plots and subplots. In the middle, your outline. You can also put a summary, one line or longer, set the POV, and the wordcount goal down there. HOW COOL.
What about ACTUALLY WRITING NOW ?
Here is the Editor with all parts open : outline on the left, data, cheat and search tab on the right, and that thing that let’s you keep track of things you put in References (in the data tab) through chapters, with POVS, down.
Note : You can chose also what appears in the outline bar : here i set it so that i have : – progression percentage after categories, wordcount after chapters – color of chapter icon indicates POV – color of categories and chapters name indicate progression (red = not started or less than half [or two thirds ?] of goal, blue = half of goal or more, green = goal or more, orange = more than a third of goal above it)
Of course you can chose which tabs are open. For example this is my usual set. Outline, data, nothing more

At 75,000 ish goddamn fucking words, “A Boy Named Joy” is a fantasy fiction story set in the modern day about a young black boy named Dontae that dies under mysterious circumstances, though he doesn’t stay dead for long. He does what no living being has ever done before: He convinces Death Themself to try their boney hand at being alive. What follows is what usually happens when a deity becomes mortal: they absolutely fuck it up. (Not to mention they’re now seemingly permantly attached to the hip of this poor back-from-the-dead kid like a particularly lethal puppy, and that brings trouble for them both – of the supernatural and the all-to-natural kind). What will happen! Will Death get a life? Will Dontae discover who killed him and stop them before they can kill again? Will he ever get to go home? (Is Death *flirting* with him? You may look like a 16 year old, but you’re an ageless force of nature you don’t flirt with people. You *happen* to people!)

Tomorrow (July 18th) I’m participating in something called PIT2PUB. This is a Twitter hashtag party that happens yearly, where pathetic authorly hopefuls such as myself makes a pitch of their completed manuscript into a tweet, posts it with the tag #Pit2Pub and then any agents/publishers that take an interest will favorite it, which is code for “we wanna see more of this epic badassery”.
But I have a problem. Well, lots really, but this problem specifically has to do with the fact that I am one dang teensy small-fry over on Twitter. With only 18 followers to my pseudonym, I’ll be luck to have anyone see my fantabulous pitches.
That’s where you come in. Tomorrow, from 8am to 8pm, retweet my pitch (it’ll be easily discernable, and remember: don’t favorite it unless you’re a big time agent that wants to help MONEY), get more eyes to see it. I’d say get it trending, but I’m not nearly popular enough for that sort of power play. But a single retweet could be the difference between nothing and getting offers of representation that could lead to a book. A real life, published book! My dream! It would be an insult to everyone with a dream if I got this close and gave up.
So, help a nonbinary gal pal out? I’m even gonna include my official authorly Twitter on this post, which is something I’ve been totally terrified of doing. But that just shows how serious about this I am, dudes! I’m proud of this book. I’m proud that I got this far, and I want to keep going. But I need your help, and luck.
