Please Help

punkerbones:

As many of you probably know, and for those that don’t, while I was in the hospital, my ex and her roommates kicked me out of the house I was living in with them. They crammed all my stuff into my car and dropped it off at the hospital. Rather unceremoniously, too, as they dropped some heavy stuff on my super expensive headphones as well as my beloved cat’s ashes (I’m very lucky the urn didn’t break).

They did this knowing that I had no support system, and they were very correct. After being discharged from the hospital at roughly 2am, I’m currently living in a hotel in Junction, TX, and regardless of where I can find a place to live, it’s going to be a 7+ hour drive.

I thought I had enough money to at least keep me afloat to get through a few nights at the hotel while I scramble to find a place to live, but, unfortunately, a charge I thought had cleared didn’t, and has now cut a deep, deep swath into my finances. That also leads to an overage charge.

paypal.me/punkerbones

I need your help, please. I cannot live out of my car due to having an elderly cat, and I’m trying as hard as I can to find a place to live that would be safe and beneficial for both myself and her.

If you can donate anything, it would be an immense help. You can do so here:

paypal.me/punkerbones

If you want a commission, I understand. Let me know and we can try to work something out, since I have some outstanding commissions that I was working on before I was kicked out.

I’m going to have to reblog this a lot, because time is definitely of the essence. At this rate, I will have to leave the hotel tomorrow, but I don’t have enough money for gasoline to even get 40 miles out of town, which would be the middle of nowhere of a Texas desert.

The hotel is $57.00 a night, and the longer I have to try and find a place to live, the better. A full tank of gasoline for my car is $30, and it would take about 2-3 tanks to get to familiar grounds. Any money would go towards those, as well as food for myself and my cat. Also, I will be honest, if at all possible, $25 would go to getting my credit card back so that I can have close to $600 available as needed after one more successful payment.

Finally, if there is any leftover, (once I find a place to live) it would go towards things like helping pull my weight while I look for a job, or little things like a new power cable for my laptop (the battery is almost dead as I write this), since I can no longer find it after my ex-roommates dumped all my stuff into random boxes.

paypal.me/punkerbones

I don’t like asking for help like this, but I literally have no other options, short of a cardboard sign out by the freeway. Please help me. Literally anything will help. Finally, if you want proof of stuff like the hotel bill, my hospital wrist band, or a pic of the hotel room, I can post those, too.

Please. Thank you.

So the USA is trying to starve its poor to death. Not even an exaggeration.

The SNAP program is getting some work requirements applied again which are expected to leave up to (or more than) a MILLION people without benefits. Of these people, 97% are at OR BELOW the poverty line.

And the only way to “earn” your benefits – the way to “prove” that you don’t “deserve” to starve to death – is to work 20 hours per week, or 80 per month.

Either pull a job out of your ass (earn your paycheck AND qualify for food assistance), OR participate in 80 hours of UNPAID labor (PLUS the expense and time of transportation to and from a set, unflexible location).

And after working 80 hours (plus paying money you don’t have for transportation to get to the designated “program” location/s) for the state to “prove” you don’t deserve to die, you get… are you ready?

I’m gonna use the Florida figures, because that’s what I was reading up on.

Less than $200 in food assistance. The average is actually less than 150.

Care to do the math?

$150 for 80 hours.

$1.88 per hour.

The USA is a fucking dystopia.

What the ever living fuck.

@fullten @lady-feral I…what

Yeah, I was hit with this. We’re okay right now since we’re staying with family, though feeding us puts a strain on them as well.

I make some internet money that works out to about 125 a week so if I wanna keep getting my food assistance I have to itemize that so it qualifies as a 20 hour a week job, which it probably does, but it’s ridiculous that anyone has to do this and most people under the poverty line will not be able to.

I HAVE had real jobs. I’ve had enough real jobs that the taxes taken out of my own past paychecks already cover all the food assistance I’ve used and plenty to come. I have already paid for this food myself.

And every day a politician somewhere in this country wastes enough money to feed our entire fucking population.

I WANNA ADD SOMETHING IMPORTANT for anyone who thinks they might need to sign up for food assistance, cause a few people just asked me some stuff about it.

In your interviews and applications, they are going to ask “do you ever eat with other people.”

This is a trick question.

You’re gonna probably think “well, technically, yeah, I had lunch with my friend last week…my mom made me a dinner….”

STOP

Answer NO. Always always answer NO.

This question is designed to weed people out. If you admit to literally ever sharing a meal with another human being, that actually allows them to deny or alter your benefit amount. Even though this is legally referred to as “supplemental” food assistance and it isn’t enough to live on by itself, Republicans already don’t want anyone to have even that, and they want to consider it “fraud” if you both receive food assistance and EVER share food with another person, whether you’ve used your benefits to buy ingredients for someone’s birthday dinner or your mom made you a casserole one visit.

The correct thing to say when asked these questions is “I purchase and prepare my own food” or “we eat separately.” Even if you’ve already told them you live with family or a roommate.

Remember: Republicans don’t even want assistance recipients to be able to buy “luxury” items like fucking pasta sauce.
They would limit you to nothing but gruel if they could. They’ve fought and pushed to load the benefit process with “tricks” and catch-22′s like these to treat as wide a range of people they can as lazy fraudsters and moochers.

Hey @fullten , this is some super important information from bogleech here. Sorry to bother you to post it again but I think this might save some people some pain in the future to see this.

This is legit, I got hit with that ‘job requirement’ shit and luckily my Doctor helped with the paperwork to get me exempt since working is basically something I can’t do (at least not for very long – I worked 30 hours a week just a few months ago and it literally ruined my quality of life, my depression and anxiety were amplified so badly that I was unable to do basic things like clean the dishes or take showers, and slept for 24+ hour stretches). It’s a huge pain in the ass, but if you CAN’T work, you need to get some kind of doctor on board to help you by writing a note or something, if possible. Also, when you’re applying initially, list ONLY YOURSELF as your ‘household’. If you list multiple people it requires you to list all of their earnings and assets and even having a room-mate with a decent job can literally disqualify you.

Do you see that? Looks like a joke image, right? Well, it isn’t.

This happens in Venezuela. It looks like nobody knows how is our crisis, because I’ve talked with a lot of people (Americans, French, Canadian and even Mexican people) who really don’t know what is happening.

I’ll explain the imagen.

In Venezuela, we haven’t medicines, even in the hospitals. This is because a patient with hypoglycemia is being attended in this way, because the hospital don’t have dextrose for the people. This is happening in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital. But not only in Caracas, is confirmed that in Maracaibo too, and who know where too.

Another cases:

“I take prednisone for animals because I can’t found it anywhere and it helps me, isn’t logic, but our health can’t wait”

“Confirmed, I’m medic performing in so many decadency. We even’t have privates places for dextrose for decompensated diabetics and believe me I could write for hours about so many that I’ve lived in the middle of this catastrophic crisis, where personally I’ve take with me a hurted pacient behind of a 350 because we haven’t ambulances, where we haven’t gloves for protect ourselves and a lot of  things like that, this is the reality…. It must be give “ORALLY” because the drink is rich in glucose (Sugar) for these pacients this imagen showes [She means the soda imagen] how is conected to a micromanager where it doesn’t looks very good… But it’s valid by an OROGASTRIC probe. As a heroic way, becase like we know “It’s incorrect”.

I even can give my own testomony. My mom is sick, and she must work everyday, I can’t help her because my leg is broken, and my brother must help his own family. She’s in pain everyday, and the money is too hard to found. If there’s money, but there’s no medicine. And, if there’s medicine, there’s no money, because all the treatments are very expensive, like everything, for our inflation on the 1600%.

Please, help us.

@takashi0 @klubbhead @satoshi01 @libertybill @nunyabizni @boyonetta @steven-universe-official

I’m sorry, guys. Can you help me to spread this? :C I need that people know about Venezuela’s situation. I’m sorry for bother you.

I’d be very interested in seeing more information on this. This sounds like something out of a post-apocalyptic nightmare novel.

Sure thing, my friend!

Since 2014, our crisis is worse with the health zone. There’s no too many medicines, and a lot of operations and treatments are delayed for this same reason.

The hospitals don’t have spaces, litters or beds for the patients.

If you go to a farmacy, there’s no medicine.

A lot of hospitals are in a terrible state.

Supplies that were lacking in public hospitals included sterile gloves and gauze, antiseptics, alcohol for medical use, scalpels, needles, catheters, intravenous solutions, nebulizers and surgical sutures. It was even common to lack basic cleaning supplies (such as bleach), which are essential to ensure a sterile environment in hospitals. Unhealthy conditions have led to in-hospital infections that could have been prevented.

And this is only talking about the health zone.

If we talk about the food shortage and the hyper inflation…

We must do LOOOOOONG lines for hours for buy the basic food. Like flour, sugar, rice, pasta, meat, chicken….

We only can buy one time at the week, for the last number of our ID.

If you search in Google “The next Venezuela”, you’ll see we aren’t a country anymore. We are a level in the shitmeter.

Christ, I’m so sorry. If there are any charities or reputable organizations we can donate to, I’d love to share links to them. ;;

Spread. Help Venezuela.

If you hypothetically want to cross the border from the USA into Canada, say around Manitoba

This weekend is going to be warmer than most. I mean, if you hypothetically wanted to cross, this would be the hypothetical weekend to hypothetically cross.

Also, you should, if this is your hypothetical plan(I’m sure no one is actually planning this. Just theorizing. It’s a fun thought exercise), hypothetically dress in layers. It’s still cold, after all.

Hypothetically, wool and down are the best materials to wear. Hypothetically, you should also have sturdy, warm boots. Ski pants help, too. Make sure your hypothetical journey include mitts and gloves. Scarves and hats, too, you want to expose as little skin to the elements as possible if the weather turns nasty, or if you get delayed and have to cross next week, or something.

Following this thought exercise, you should have a compass. Stay walking North.

Theoretically it might be best to keep walking, in this game, until you reach a road, then keep going until you reach a town or city. Give your imaginary city a name, like, say, Brandon, or Winnipeg!

Have fun rp-ing, dudes, and stay safe!

Also, hypothetically, you might want to stay away from small towns right next to the border. Just for now.

Your characters lose health points for not taking the following:

-water

-food

You lose a life if you cross creeks and rivers at any point except bridges(of any kind) because if we’re going by this years weather, the ice might not be able to hold your weight.

You have to go back to the start if you cross in Saskatchewan, they have no legal aid for refugee seekers.

Happy larping!!

@allthecanadianpolitics

Speaking purely in terms of hypotheticals of course, if you’re planning on braving the snowy prairie, a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis could make the journey far less arduous than it would be on foot, particularly if you, for whatever hypothetical reason, feel inclined to stay away from roads.

Also, hypothetically speaking, if you’re considering snowshoes/skis, but you find yourself lacking the skill level required to use either implement, consider a really really good sturdy pair of boots as mentioned above. Preferably a pair that are higher than and snug around your ankles.

Hypothetically speaking, if you run across a hypothetical frozen lake or hypothetical frozen river, do take care not to set foot on the ice if at all possible and consider other alternate hypothetical routes, since you can’t be sure if the ice will be sturdy enough to take your weight.

Speaking of hypothetical ice, watch out for black ice and walk carefully. If you’re hypothetically not able to maybe get your hands on a hypothetical jacket, I think stuffing newspaper should be a somewhat okay alternative? ?? Or at least try to get some nice thermal underwear (long johns or something of the like) to prevent against the cold. All of this in the purely hypothetical sense of course, not because anyone would ACTUALLY do this.

hypothetically speaking, a good strategy once in canada would be to seek out a sanctuary city where you will be protected from prosecution for violating federal immigration laws, and will be able to access municipal services regardless of status. there are currently only four sanctuary cities in canada: toronto ontario, hamilton ontario, london ontario, and vancouver BC. several other cities are discussing proposals to become sanctuary cities, including montreal, ottawa, winnipeg, regina, and saskatoon.

in the hypothetical event that you happen to hypothetically cross the border and end up in a sanctuary city, you should keep in mind that regardless of the law, the police are not your friends, and cannot be trusted to follow these directives. police in hamilton and toronto have refused to confirm that they will adhere to sanctuary city laws, and may very well assist federal law enforcement with deportations. these police forces are also infamous for discriminatory carding practices and racist violence. stay safe…..hypothetically

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

Bishop Curry V may be young (10 years old, to be precise), but the little kid from Texas has some big ideas. He’s currently working on a device that could help prevent children from dying in hot cars.

The number of children who died in hot cars increased across the country last year, and Texas had the highest number of cases. Sadly for Bishop, the issue also hits close to home because a baby died in a minivan last summer outside a home near his own family’s home in McKinney.

Bishop was inspired to create a device he calls “Oasis,” which would attach to a car seat and detect if a child is left inside the vehicle, prompting it to blow cool air until parents or the police are notified.

“It would be a dream to have lots of inventions that would save many lives,” the precocious 10-year-old told the news station.

source

A lot of people don’t realize how easy it is to leave something in a hot car.

It’s easy to forget something when it’s not in your daily routine, especially if it’s asleep or under a blanket or something.

This is a nightmare. I don’t have kids myself, but I can absolutely understand how this could happen- everyone’s sick so you’re probably kind of out of it, you run in thinking you’re just going to be a minute, get distracted with the task at hand… and then your child dies in a horrific way because of it…

I’m all for any methods or technologies that can help prevent it from turning tragic.
